Brunette bombshell Maria Kalinina may have had a short on-screen career, but she’s gotten a lot of attention over the course of her life. At the age of 17 in 1990, the 6’ statuesque beauty won the title of Miss Moscow and became the first official beauty queen in the history of the Soviet state. The win led to a modeling contract, travel around the world, a French-language album in France called Love Me, and a book she titled Me, Miss Moscow: The Diary of a Beauty Queen. It also led her to the movies, where she played Olga in the Italian comedy Occhio alla perestrojka (1990), aka Watch out for Perestroika. Maria, also known as Mariya and Misha, eventually made her way to the US, and picked up the role of an evil-minded vampire countess in the Hollywood horror flick Stay Alive (2006), co-starring a list of young stars that reads like a game: Who made it big and who didn’t? (Samaire Armstrong and Frankie Muniz—not so big; Milo Ventimiglia and Sophia Bush—big.) In the flick, she aims to sacrifice a virgin, and strips down to nothing but a puss patch to do it, showing off the exact reason she shook Moscow down to their toes. And speaking of Russia, Maria is allegedly a descendant of Prince Fiodor A.
